Deer Vertebrae and Roses holding the tension of the opposites. One everlasting and the other fleeting. The bones being the soul and flowers being the blooms of creativity.
It can be tricky working with fresh flowers because it's all about timing. I have to work fast, and if I am harvesting from the wild (or people's yards) it's usually an even faster wilting time.
My head pieces are quite often partly living and therefore on borrowed time. Or not. Whenever I return to my studio a day or two after a photo shoot I am always amazed how awesome the flowers can look dead and dry. It's like a whole other design that I had nothing to do with and deserves attention of its own. I think I will start documenting them. This one I found to be especially lovely.
